The January recruitment period is always a period of significant speculation and possible big-money moves. Numerous high-profile stars are being linked with transfers out of their current clubs. Here is a look at a selection of the top figures that are poised to be changing clubs in January.

A. Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the forward available, indications are a significant move is imminent. The 25-year-old has a contract with a sizeable buy-out clause active for a brief window in early January. Latest reports indicate the Premier League champions are now the frontrunners for his signature. Former suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to other options, potentially opening the door for teams like Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

The English defender has continued to impress for Crystal Palace despite a previous transfer to Anfield collapsing. With his contract set to run out in the close season, January is the London club's last opportunity to obtain a fee for their captain. A host of elite clubs, such as City and several continental powerhouses like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. However, a winter exit remains difficult, especially given the manager's dependence on the defender.

B. Johnson

This Wales winger has had starting minutes limited at Spurs this term. Although being the club's top scorer last season, Johnson has begun only a small number of league matches. It is understood the London outfit would be willing to consider a sale for the right price, thought to be in the around £40 million. The Cherries appear to be leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an inquiry.

Spurs value the Welsh international at around forty million pounds.

Rúben Neves

The Portugal midfielder could be set for a comeback to the English top flight following a period in the Saudi Pro League. Now just twenty-eight, while his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he is a possible opportunity. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been suggestions from Spain that he would be willing to accept a reduced salary for a move to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

The veteran German goalkeeper is now as third-choice at Barcelona under new coach Hansi Flick. Having lost his place and undergone an operation, a January exit looks increasingly likely. Villa were initially mentioned as a potential destination, but that option currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This proven English centre-forward has kept finding the net regularly in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his fading hopes of being in the England World Cup. But, securing a transfer presents significant challenges. Al-Ahli are reluctant to sell him, and his alleged enormous salary render any move difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all linked as interested parties.

Kees Smit

This much-admired Dutch midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. After impressing at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. This teenager is heavily expected to make a major move this month. Newcastle United are believed to be frontrunners, but are facing strong competition from Real Madrid for a deal priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
